Conversion goals for signups and engagement
Tracwell goals turn a recorded outcome into a reusable conversion report. Define what counts as a match, then compare completions, people, conversion, and change over the selected period.
Measure a completed outcome
Send an event after the application confirms success. For a signup goal, signup_completed is more meaningful than a click on the signup button. Match the event and relevant properties so the report counts the outcome you intend.
Distinguish completions from people
One anonymous visitor can complete an action more than once. Completions and people answer different questions. Goal conversion compares anonymous visitors with a match against visitors with recorded activity in the report range.
Track a successful account creation
Example workflow
- Emit signup_completed after account creation succeeds.
- Create a goal that matches the signup event.
- Select a date range and inspect completions alongside people and conversion.
- Compare with the previous period and inspect relevant events or journeys.
What to keep in mind
The result depends on recorded activity and your matching definition. Anonymous visitor identity is not cross-device identity, and Private-mode visitor estimates are scoped daily. A higher completion count alone does not establish a higher conversion rate.
Can I define or query goals from an AI tool?
Yes. MCP keys can read permitted analytics. A key explicitly granted definition-write access to one website can also create or update that website’s goals and funnels.
