How it works

## Go  from  first  event to  a  useful  answer.

Start with page views, add the actions you want to measure, and explore the visits behind your conversions.

Install

### Connect your website

Add the Tracwell script, choose a collection mode, and verify the first event from your website.

Track

### Capture what matters

Page views are captured automatically. Add custom events for signups and send verified payments from your backend for revenue tracking.

Understand

### Turn events into answers

Explore traffic sources, visitor journeys, drop-offs, and conversions in one dashboard.

FAQ

## Questions, answered.

**How do I install Tracwell?**

Add the script to your site with its project key. Tracwell captures the first page view, and you can use the browser API for custom events. Onboarding guides you through the collection mode and allowed-domain settings.

[Read the installation guide](https://tracwell.app/docs/browser-sdk)

**Does Tracwell use cookies?**

Private mode does not use cookies, local storage, or persistent browser identity. Product mode uses first-party local storage for anonymous sessions and optional user identity. Choose the mode per website and handle consent where required.

[Read about collection and consent](https://tracwell.app/docs/privacy)

**Which collection mode should I choose?**

Choose Private mode for cookieless traffic measurement without persistent visitor identity. Choose Product mode to recognize returning visitors and connect their activity to signups and revenue. Handle consent where required.

**How does revenue attribution work?**

In Product mode, send verified purchases and refunds from your backend through the server API. Include the visitor’s session ID to link a payment to that session’s first source, landing page, and journey. Payments without a matching session remain unattributed. Adding the browser script alone does not import payments.

**Can I track custom events?**

Yes. Track events such as \`signup\_completed\` or \`checkout\_started\` with the properties you need for filtering and breakdowns.

[Set up custom events](https://tracwell.app/docs/events)

**Can I track more than one website?**

Yes. Add multiple websites to a workspace and switch between them in the dashboard. You can also join shared workspaces. The website limit depends on each workspace’s plan.

[Compare website allowances](https://tracwell.app/pricing)

**Can I query Tracwell from an AI tool?**

Yes. Connect an MCP-compatible AI tool with a read-only key. Choose which websites it can access, then ask questions about your analytics.

[Connect an MCP-compatible tool](https://tracwell.app/docs/agents)

**Can I export or query my data?**

Export Overview and Event summary reports as CSV from Settings. Workspace owners can also export all available events within their plan’s retention period. We’ll email you when the full export is ready; its download link expires seven days after the request. You can also query reports through the API or MCP.
